Trip Faq's

How strong a hiker should I be?

These are hiking trips, not walking trips, so you should have experience hiking in the mountains. We hike 4-7 hours per day with a comfortable lunch stop and other stops as needed. In order to enjoy the trip fully, you should be in good physical condition.

I'm single. Will I be out of place?

Our groups generally include many singles as well as couples. We take pride in making everyone feel comfortable.

What's the average age of the people in the group?

Every group differs. Generally, the ages range from 35-65 with some in their 20's and 70's. It seems age makes little difference. As long as you are in good physical condition and enjoy meeting people of all ages, you'll enjoy the trip.

Features:

This magnificent high traverse from Chamonix, France to Zermatt, Switzerland, explores the spectacular terrain where the sport of mountaineering and alpinism was born in the 19th century. Crossing the Alps along one of its most scenic and historic trails, we'll see ten of the highest peaks in the Alps, including Mont Blanc, Grand Combin, Monte Rosa and the Matterhorn. Each day will bring a new panorama of high peaks, alpine meadows alive with wildflowers, old farms and beautiful lakes. Picnic lunches are included daily on the Haute Route. Luggage is transported from inn to inn, so all we carry is a daypack (except for the night in the hut). We begin our trip with 2 nights in Chamonix to be part of the "Festival des Guides", the largest celebration of guides in Europe. Music, fireworks and a fabulous show put on by the guides on a rock cliff just outside town are highlights of this special day. We end our trip with 2 nights in Zermatt with an opportunity of hiking to the Hoernli Hut where hikers overnight before climbing the Matterhorn. Participants must be in GOOD PHYSICAL CONDITION.
